Creating Inviting Spaces for Independence: A Showcase for Realtors and Aspiring Stagers

At Nested Spaces, our mission is to transform properties into warm, functional homes that make a difference in people’s lives. We recently had the privilege of staging a new phase of Damar Village. This supportive living community in southwest Indianapolis is designed for adults with autism and developmental and intellectual disabilities. This project exemplifies how thoughtful staging can create environments that are not only beautiful but also empowering and practical for residents.

For Realtors: The Impact of Thoughtful Staging

Staging isn’t just for selling—it can also be a powerful tool for showcasing properties that offer unique living solutions. Realtors specializing in properties that cater to specific needs, such as supportive or senior living, can benefit immensely from collaborating with experienced stagers. The Damar Village project demonstrates how intentional design can make a home inviting and functional. It gives potential residents and their families confidence in their decisions.

Why is this important for realtors?

Staging highlights the lifestyle a property offers, showcasing spaces in ways that encourage buyers to envision themselves or their loved ones living there. This is especially impactful in supportive communities, where creating a sense of comfort and independence is paramount.

For Aspiring Stagers: Creating Spaces with Purpose

If you’re considering a career in home staging, projects like Damar Village reveal the deeper purpose behind the work. Staging is about more than aesthetics—it’s about shaping spaces that enhance lives. The two-bedroom condo we staged at Damar Village was designed not just to look beautiful but to feel like home to its future residents. The goal was to provide a sense of pride and serenity, reflecting the mission of Damar Services to foster independence.

What can aspiring stagers learn from this?

  • Functional design is as critical as visual appeal. In supportive communities, spaces need to be practical for daily activities like cooking, socializing, and relaxing.
  • Empathy-driven staging can transform a property from a simple living space to a true home.
  • Collaboration with organizations like Damar Services adds value to your portfolio and deepens your understanding of how to design for different needs.

The Results: Independence and Community

Damar Village’s completion marks a significant milestone, with 120 housing units now available to residents. For individuals like Hannah Steele, this community has been life-changing, providing a space where she can learn essential skills such as cooking and laundry while living independently. Staging played a role in setting up these environments to feel safe, inviting, and conducive to growth.

Final Thoughts: Combining Staging with Purpose

For realtors and stagers alike, this project serves as an inspiring reminder of the power of creating spaces that go beyond visual appeal. Whether your goal is to sell a home quickly or contribute to meaningful living solutions, the principles of intentional design and staging remain the same: to foster connection, comfort, and a sense of belonging.

If you’re a realtor looking to elevate your property showings or an aspiring stager wanting to make an impact, taking on projects like Damar Village can be a step toward making real estate not just a transaction, but a journey toward a better life for its residents.
