At Nested Spaces, we’ve had the privilege of helping homes stand out in competitive markets. This fall, we took on an exciting project: furnishing two model homes at The Terraces in Westfield. Here’s a glimpse into the process and some tips you can apply to your own staging efforts.
Welcome to The Terraces
The Terraces in Westfield feature beautifully finished custom garden homes with maintenance-free living—a dream for potential buyers. Working with Estridge, a builder known for quality and customization, we had the opportunity to stage two stunning model homes: The Wells and The Elston.
Our mission? Create spaces that feel both inviting and functional, designed for gathering and making memories.
Designing Spaces Buyers Fall in Love With
Successful staging involves more than just furnishing a home—it’s about creating an emotional connection. Here’s how we approached different areas of the model homes:
Living Spaces
Neutral palettes are key to appealing to a wide audience. For these homes, we used soft earth tones like sage and camel, complemented by rich textures and plush furnishings. To add personality, we incorporated colorful accents through artwork, pillows, and throws. These elements tied the room together, making it feel sophisticated and welcoming.
Pro Tip: Neutral furniture pieces provide versatility, while accessories like textiles and art allow you to inject personality and cater to the tastes of your target market.
Loft Area
Loft spaces can be a challenge to stage, but they offer incredible potential. In The Elston model, we transformed the loft into a secondary family room. A large sectional provided ample seating, while 3D wall art (not pictured) showcased the room’s functionality and flair.
Pro Tip: Highlighting multifunctional spaces helps buyers envision how the home can suit their needs.
Bedrooms
Bedrooms should feel like a retreat. We layered soft, textured textiles in muted tones, complemented by subtle decor and thoughtful lighting. From navy to blush to muted teal, we used a cohesive color palette to create a serene environment.
Pro Tip: Greenery and personal touches like curated artwork can breathe life into bedrooms and make them feel like home.
Takeaways for Aspiring Stagers and Realtors
Staging model homes is about more than aesthetics—it’s about telling a story. By thoughtfully selecting furniture, colors, and accessories, you can highlight the best features of any home, helping buyers envision their lives there.
If you’re considering starting a home staging business or incorporating staging into your real estate practice, pay attention to the details that make a space memorable. Use staging as a tool to create emotional connections with potential buyers.
